X is for X-Ray

We had special guest speakers for X week.

We learned that x rays don't hurt. We looked at some of the aprons that you might wear during an x-ray. We also practiced holding our breath for a chest x-ray!

Showing off what we already know and learning more about bones.

Looking at a chest x-ray

Looking at a leg x-ray, a real bone, and a leg to see how they are the same and how they are different.
A special thanks to KayDee and Molly, MSUB-COT radiology students!

Cubes

We colored cube nets and then made them into colorful number cubes.

Then using our number cubes we made bar graphs of how often each number was rolled. This is some serious math. Not only can they make the graphs, they can also read them!

Show and Tell for V Week

Show and Tell is something that the children all look forward to. It's great skill practice at home to hunt for the perfect item to bring that matches the skills of the week.

V is a tricky letter, but not if you have a veterinary costume!

Equations Really?

For our opening activity we were writing and drawing on marker boards. I grabbed the camera to get a picture of some great pencil grips and pictures.

I noticed that some of the children were writing on the back, which is covered in equations.

Upon closer inspection they were correctly answering the math problems, super cool!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A leprechaun visited our school. He messed up our classrooms and left behind gold and green coins!
He also turned our water green, these two aren't too sure about drinking it! The students loved the cute little footprints that were left behind.

The 'snack kid' brought a really cool snack, a rainbow!

Another eatable rainbow, delicious and nutritious!

The color of the week was a rainbow of course. Here we are dancing with our rainbows!

Dr. Suess's Birthday

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!

Thing 1 and Thing 2 were much better behaved than the ones in the book!

S is for Sheriff

We love Peace Officers!
Taking a look inside a sheriff's patrol car. During his talk we were able to look at many of the tools he uses for his job. We also reviewed calling 911 and 'safe strangers'.
Thanks Officer Nichols!

Dental Health Month

We learned all about our teeth for Dental Health Month!
A 'doctor' and 'patient' help us learn what will happen when we go to the dentist.

Don't forget to floss! Using peanut butter and yarn, we learned how to floss our teeth. The kids really like using special flossers on their own teeth after their snacks too.

We know that sugar is bad for your body and your teeth, but how much sugar is in each drink? Yikes, I don't think I will drink sport drinks anymore! The sugarless choice...water of course.

Here we are learning about healthy food choices. We talk about food that's "good for your body" during snack time. The students were really surprised that those same foods were good for their teeth as well!

Learning proper brushing techniques; remember to get the top, back, and front.
Look at those great listeners!

A big thank you to Dr. Francis and Dr. Viara
