We Went to the Zoo Zoo Zoo!
Writing
Many times when we work on writing we are doing all different kinds of things that are age appropriate for preschoolers. However, we have been working on correct pencil grip. Many preschoolers will hold writing utensils with a fist, which is fine as long as their thumb is on the top. I had to take pictures because this is the first time EVERYONE was holding their pencils 'big kid style'!

Earth Week
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
For Earth Week we were busy. To introduce Reduce, Reuse, Recycle we did some science experiments and art projects. We even learned a song.
Making art out of garbage. It hits all of the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle)!
Here's a finished project. I love how safely he's holding his scissors!
We also learned how to use a lot less water while brushing our teeth, washing our hands, and filling up drinks!
Math Lessons
Working on color collages. Scissor skills and team work!
After a lesson on symmetry the children made symmetrical butterflies. I was so excited that they all understood the concept. Then this little man blew me away. He had figured out that if you put the shape right in the middle (on the line of symmetry) you only needed one shape, rather than two! Wow!
After talking about solid shapes (cubes, cylinders, and rectangular prisms) and colors we built with them. Not only a math lesson, but look at the great social skills (working together and sharing)!
This was another bar graph lesson. Every child was able to make the graph on their own and read the information off of it!
