Yellow

The color of the week is YELLOW!

This art lesson was a great way to practice all different kinds of fine motor skills and learn about the color yellow (they also know how to say yellow in Spanish and sign language). The students tore up yellow paper. Then they glued the pieces onto a car shape, for C week. Finally they read the words to me.

Fire Safety Week

Fire Station Field Trip
We got to see so much; a ladder truck, a pumper truck, the garage, a safety video...the list goes on and on!
Spraying a real fire hose. You need big muscles to do this!

We asked a firefighter to put on all of his gear. It's important that kiddos are not afraid of them (they look and sound funny). We don't want anyone to hide from the firefighters if there is a real fire!Little brothers and sisters were able to come too. I love seeing how kind the big sisters are.

Lacing

A is for apple.
Ms. Heidi's class lacing apples. What great fine motor practice. You can just see brain pathways forming in this picture, and the apples are sturdy enough to use over and over at home.

Shaving Cream

Learning is serious business. Just look at their faces! Shaving cream is a great way to work on fine motor skills, practice shapes, practice colors, write letters, numbers, words...endless possibilities.

The First Day of School

Yeah for the first day!
Our first week of school was a pirate theme, so fun!
When the kids arrive there is always an opening activity which changes weekly. Today it was blocks! There were some nervous faces.

No more nervous faces! We just finished a treasure hunt. The treasure was the key to reading...the alphabet!
