Easter Art

We did a really cool art lesson this week. I made a sample and cut out all the bunny parts for each child. Then I gave them unique directions...they had to look at my bunny and figure out how to make their own bunny. It was so cool to see their thought processes! Some kiddos went and got all the needed supplies then assembled them, while other children went and got one piece at a time and glued it on. It was so fun to see them figure out what parts they needed and how to put them together correctly!

This Little Man went 'bunny body part shopping' for all the needed pieces at one time.

The child with the blue bunny worked on a section at a time. Here he's working on the bunny's face. The kiddo with the green bunny made the body first then added the details.

Here's the finished projects. They turned out so well, especially remembering that I didn't help them figure out where to put the pieces!

St. Patrick's Day

We had a fun day that included a leprechaun visit, but we also did some serious learning. Ms. Heidi's class had sorted and counted Lucky Charms, and Ms. Tania's class made bar graphs with their marshmallows.

All of the kiddos had different methods for making their graphs. This little lady filled in one of each shape until she ran out, and then she finished the graph.

This little peanut sorted out piles of each shape, then counted them, put the glue on, and then glued the marshmallows. What great thinking!

I've used this lesson in third grade, but these kiddos had no problem doing it too! They always amaze me. Even more amazing...they can read the information on the graphs too! When we send them home make sure you ask your child which one had the most, least, how many rainbows there were...the possibilities are endless!

Catch a Rainbow

We did a science experiment today. We were learning about how to make other colors out of red, yellow, and blue!

They were all so interested! What great listeners!

The Grand Finale~we caught a rainbow!

Then we recorded what we learned. When they bring these papers home they will be able to read them to you!

Show and Tell

The kiddos LOVE show and tell! The teachers love it too because it gives the children a chance to practice their new knowledge and skills at home while they are looking for the perfect item. It is also a great chance for the kiddos to practice public speaking, a very important and scary skill!
